Benedetto Scalia founded this Sicilian anchovy producer in Sciacca in 1973, on the same Agrigento coast that has sustained Sicily's anchovy fleet for centuries. Anchovies are processed by hand immediately after catch by the women of Sciacca, using only salt, the same method the town has practiced since antiquity. The company grew large enough that other brands commission production from Scalia on their behalf. Also produces colatura di alici and sardines.
