Shimizu Foods

Founded in 1929 in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, Shimizu Foods is one of the companies that established industrial tuna canning in Japan. Shimizu Port was among the first locations in the country where surplus tuna landing at the docks was preserved in oil-packed cans and exported to the United States, a practice that grew into a major regional industry. The company is now part of the Suzuyo Group and produces premium canned tuna and seafood under the Ocean Princess brand, which carries forward the quality standards and techniques established in Shimizu nearly a century ago.
