Founded in 1909 by Hans and Maria Westphal in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein. One of Germany's best-known canned fish brands with over 100 years of herring processing tradition. Herring accounts for approximately 95% of production volume, in varieties including classic tomato sauce, mustard cream, dill, and innovative chef collaborations. Acquired by Rügen Fisch AG in 2009, which enabled significant investment in production and sauce manufacturing. MSC certified for all wild-caught fish. Also produces tuna salad ranges introduced after the Thai Union acquisition of Rügen Fisch.
