Luis Calvo Sanz started canning in a small factory in Carballo, A Coruña in 1940, beginning with meat before pivoting to fish. The company introduced round cans for tuna to Spain, a format the rest of the industry eventually copied. Now part of the Nauterra group, producing around 37,000 tonnes annually from facilities in Galicia and internationally.
