One of Croatia's oldest active fish factories, founded in 1905 in Sali on the island of Dugi Otok in Dalmatia. Mardesic has roots in the historic Fratelli Mardesic cannery from Komiza on Vis, one of the pioneers of sardine canning in the Adriatic. Now partly owned by Pilchardus and Chancerelle, Brittany's oldest fish-processing company operating since 1853. Mardesic exclusively processes Adriatic sardines for the French market and export, producing up to 10 million cans annually.
