Cesare Regnoli and Figlio is a fifth-generation Italian producer based in Bologna and Ariano nel Polesine, operating for over 160 years under the Medusa brand. Founded in 1861 by Cesare Regnoli, a Garibaldino who built a business around his belief in the newborn Italian nation, the company began with salt-preserved herring and cod before pivoting to its signature marinated eel, a regional specialty of the Po Delta. By the 1950s Regnoli had expanded into canned tuna, and today Medusa is one of Europe's leading producers of fish-based gourmet specialties: marinated eel, seafood antipasti, fish soups, and canned tuna produced with BRC and IFS certification.
